Most Worshipful Grand Master Timothy J. Cager

Timothy J. Cager was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on October 27, 1954, to the late Irene M. and James C. Cager and loving brother to his oldest brother James C. Cager Jr., and sister Joyce L. Cager. His education was in the Pittsburgh Public School System, and he graduated from Langley High School in 1973. After graduation, he attended Morris Harvey College in Charleston, WV. He returned to Pittsburgh in 1981 to help take care of his sick father. After the passing of his father, he entered the building trades. He was an apprentice for four (4) years, with the Pittsburgh Sprinkler Fitters Local Union #542 and a member for twelve years. He was hired by Peoples Gas Natural Company on April 29, 1994, and worked until he retired July 1, 2016. He is married to his beautiful wife Sherri D. Simmons on June 4, 1983; together, they have three wonderful (3) children: Candace, Tiffany and Breona; eleven (11) awesome grandchildren, and two (2) great grandchildren.

On May 24, 1997, Brother Cager was raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason in Melita Lodge #117 in the Seventh Masonic District, located in Pittsburgh, and became Worshipful Master in 2002 – 2004 and 2006 – 2007. In 2004, he was appointed Director of Youth – West, Order of Knights of Pythagoras, where he served until, he was appointed Worshipful District Deputy Grand Master of the Seventh Masonic District in 2010 – 2018. Brother Cager was elevated to a Sublime Prince of St. Cyprian Consistory #4 in 1999 and elevated to the 33 the last degree on May 26, 2009, in Rochester, NY. He served as Illustrious Sentinel for Pennsylvania Council of Deliberation from 2009 – 2012. He was then elected Second Vice President in 2012 and with the passing of President Nelson Polite in 2016; he was elected First Vice President until 2023. In 1999 he was created a Noble of Sahara Temple #2, located in Pittsburgh, and elected Illustrious Potentate in 2011 – 2012. He was appointed Deputy of The Oasis of Pittsburgh in January 2012 to January 2022.

Brother Cager is also a member of the York Rite Houses of the Masonic Order. In 2005, he joined Edward D. Ford Council #4, Royal & Select Masters and was Thrice Illustrious Master 2007 – 2009. He was appointed Worshipful District Deputy Thrice Illustrious Master in 2009 to 2023. That same year he also joined Cyrene Commandery #9, Knight Templars, and was elected Eminent Commander 2010 – 2012. He was also the overseer for St. Cyprian 2019 – 2022. He was Most Excellent High Priest of Sheba Chapter #13, Holy Royal Arch Masons, 2014 – 2016. He became a member of The John R. Gilmore Priory #2 of the K.Y.C.H on July 28, 2017.

Brother Cager is also a member of Brydie E. Crunkleton Memorial Court #3, Heroines of Jericho and Queen Esther Chapter #6, Order of Eastern Star Inc. In addition, he is a member of The Phylaxis Society of Masonic research. On October 9, 2018, Brother Timothy J. Cager was elected, by his brothers of The Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania, to Right Worshipful Junior Grand Warden.  On Tuesday, October 15, 2024, he was elected and installed The Most Worshipful Grand Master of The Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania.  His theme for his administration is” WE ARE PHAMILY”.  He continues to live his life in service for God, family, and the Fraternal Order. He remains humble in his service for God has given him much favor.
